Planning our incidental music and sound effects.

To give our group a good idea of what sound effects and incidental music to use in our opening we have done some research in order to narrow down some of our ideas.

Clips are from:
http://incompetech.com/
http://www.freesound.org/

These are some print screens from the websites.

These are the clips that we are thinking about using.

Typography Mood Board.

This is a mood board of type faces that I have researched and are possibilities of fonts that my group and myself might use for our film opening. Many of the fonts that i have included in this mood board fit in well with the theme of Horror. I selected these because some of them are very eerie and creepy which fits in well with our genre and sub genre of Horror and Slasher. Many of these typefaces show connotations of insanity and blood which could relate to our narrative well. This could also help the target audience make the link from the typeface to the narrative. We have decided to use a darker colour like black for the typeface as it is very dark and ominous or we will use a vibrant red on a dark background to make it stand out, look creepy and give connotations of blood.

Filming Schedule

This shows the times that we will film our opening. We have included the days that we would like to film and some reserve days just in case crew and actors cannot attend. We have have also included the final deadline to remind us.

Changing the title.

After completing the planning process and thinking about how and when we are going to film we have decided to change our film title from "The Conductor" to "Tracks of Damnation". We decided to change the name because we thought that the new name fitted in  well with the genre and subgenre that we have selected. We also thought that the name "The  Conductor" wasn't as creepy and conventionally what you would expect from a Horror or a Slasher film name.

Team Meeting/Discussion.

When we were finalising our storyboard we decided to film our discussion about things that we should and shouldn't include in our opening. We thought that filming this would be a good idea because it enables us to go back and watch the videos to remind ourselves of our ideas in that discussion.

Target Audience focus group.

These are videos of my group and myself asking our focus group questions relating to our film opening and the genre and sub genre that we have selected.

Audition Videos

We asked our actors to audition for the film to make sure that we had made the right decision in selecting these people. We videoed our actors so we could look over them later and discuss if we are making the right decision in hiring them. We asked our actors to improvise and say a few lines in their character roles. We decided that we didn't need an audition for the antagonist as the part doesn't require any dialogue. We selected him due to his physical build.
Here are their audition films:

This is malachi's audition for the role of jock\thug.

This is Sophie's Audition for the role of Drama Queen.

This is Edward's Audition for the role of Nerd.

Draft storyboard.

These images show our first draft of our storyboard. This is not necessarily our final storyboard but this gives us an idea of what to include and the different aspects that might be in our film.

Tester shots

We travelled to our location with our actors and filmed some testers shots which we would do similarly in the real thing. We also edited it on Premiere Pro to increase our editing skills and to make the videos become more fluent. However the quality of the footage is quite blurry therefore the standard is not the highest quality.

Permission Letter

This is a print screen of the email that we will be sending to the Northamptonshire council asking for permission to film in our selected area. We also included a birds eye view of our location so the council have a visual of where we want to film in Chacombe. We  overlooked this email as a group to decide if there is any elements we want to add in. After that we sent the email.

Makeup and special effects- Recreating fake blood.

For our film opening we need to create the effect of fake blood. After researching this on Youtube we found this video which was quite simple and realistic and only required 2 or 3 ingredients. We will make this fake blood ourselves and post pictures that are step by step showing the progress we will make whilst creating the blood. We will use this fake blood on the weapon, the antagonist and the victim. However we will not use too much blood as we do not want this opening to be gory because the classification of our film is a 15.

This is video from Youtube and shows how to make a bruise only using eyeshadow. We tried to  recreate this look for our opening.

This image is of Katie's sister. Katie watched a video on Youtube so she would be able to recreate the effect of a bruise.

This is an image of the fake blood that Katie created.

We created this video using the software Premiere Pro and edited several clips together to create a sequence. We also added a non diegetic sound track and sound effects to the sequence.

Communication

To be able to communicate well with my other team members we have set up a group chat on Facebook which will enable us to communicate swiftly and easily with each other. Using this group chat is a good idea because all members have facebook which means that this method is easily accessible. To ensure that communication is happening between members of my group and the actors we have hired to be in our film we will make another group chat which will include our actors in. Doing this will mean that we will be able to contact them easily where they are at home or on the go. This chat will also enable our actors to ask us any questions or if they have any queries about what they will need to bring or do. The chat is also a way to inform us if the actors are going to be late or will not be able to turn up for filming sessions.

Before and after the filming process my group and I will try to have frequent meetings discussing the next task that we will do for our film and any problems that we have been finding during the filming process. We will also try to have meetings with our actors every week to make sure they are aware of what they are doing in the next filming session. We will also use these meetings to answer any questions or problems that our actors may have.
