Choosing the idea.

The Narrative

The narrative of our storyline is about 3/4 teenagers who are a group of friends, they will each be in the stereotypical groups you would expect in school for example nerd, drama queen etc. This will reinforce the stereotypes that the target audience will be used to seeing during education themselves. We will see the main group of protagonists walking down the location and they will be having a short conversation which will show the audience that they are friends and know each other well. The narrative will then proceed to one of the characters hearing something. One of the character (probably male) will go off and to see what has happened to make the other protagonist feel "safe". When this character does not return the other characters start to panic and become worried which will help to build the climax for the audience. One of the other group members (a female) will go after the first male character after the group members hear cries of pain.
The antagonist will kill the first character and when the deceased character has been discovered by the other group members they will hear an eerie train whistle. The main group will turn around and see the antagonist dressed in black with a mask on with a axe or knife.

The train whistle will link into the narrative as the location of the opening will be in a abandoned train tunnel as the antagonist will be portraying a conductor who is a serial killer.

 Mise En Scene

The location of our film opening will be in Chacombe where there is an abandoned train tunnel. The reason we chose this location was because it fits in well with the narrative. Another reason is when we film our opening we can do it in high key lighting however when you go inside the tunnel it becomes more low key lighting and can build tension and climax. Also if we film in high key lighting there may be a possibility of the light streaming in through the tunnel which could help to emphasise certain features that hit this particular light. The costume that the protagonists will be wearing will reflect their personality. For example the nerd character will be dressed smartly whereas the drama queen will be dressed over the top to reflect her personality. They will also be dressed this way because it will help the audience distinguish the protagonists from the antagonist. The antagonist will be wearing the opposite to the protagonists. The villain of our film will be wearing dark clothing and will be have a mask. The mask is one of the codes and conventions that the audience will expect from a Slasher film. The makeup of the female protagonists will follow the archetype of females always wearing makeup and caring about their appearance. Therefore the female protagonist will be wearing makeup as it also goes with her dram queen personality in the film.

The lighting for the film will be high key and low key.. The high key lightning elements will make the opening seem happy and as if there are no troubles. We will also use low key lighting to create a darker atmosphere and build tension for the audience.

Some of the camera shots we will use will be an establishing log shot so the audience and can see the location and the atmosphere of the film opening. We will also include some close ups of the characters so the audience can see what the main characters of the film are like.  I will also include an extreme close up of the weapon so it adds emphasis for the audience.
